GILLIAN JONES — THE BERKSHIRE EAGLE
From left, Ben Lamb, Kevin Boisjolie and Jennifer Blair plant a tree on Ashland Street at the intersection of Blackinton in North Adams on Saturday morning, while another tree, in the foreground, waits to be planted. The group planted several trees along the Ashland Street corridor. The North Adams Tree Initiative, a program of The Northern Berkshire Community Coalition (nbCC), is leading the effort to plant more than 800 new trees on public and private land in the City of North Adams. The tree planting project, an initiative of the Franklin Land Trust and funded by a grant from the United States Forest Service, will offer trees to residents and businesses, and also will replace dying or dead trees along downtown streets and within city neighborhoods.
