BEN GARVER — THE BERKSHIRE EAGLE
Corn is harvested and chopped for silage at High Lawn Farm in Lee, Thursday, October 3, 2019. THe farm will harvest 2300 tons of corn as silage to feed the dairy cows for the year. The corn is non-GMO and fertilized with manure from the Jersey herd, making the milk a true Berkshire product. Due to relatively dry conditions, the harvester can chop corn (silage is made from the entire plant) right into a truck for transport.
