In this 1949 photo, Julius H. Hagenguth stands before one of the giant spheres of a 'sphere-gap' measuring device. The device was used by GE's High Voltage Engineering Laboratory to determine voltage magnitudes. Hagenguth became the lab's chief engineer in 1945. Photo originally provided by GE News.
